Grand Ma's Words
I yearn to go back to my roots
Where I'd not buy fruits
There my lifestyles were not this loose
Today I wear bare backs, but for what use?
Grandma told something one night
She said,"yo' grandpa was involved in a fight
Him and some man scrambling for me, right?
Bodies then were abominable for public sight
Then I was twenty eight
We never bothered to look light
Or paint our faces to look like whites."
